The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin recently highlighted several Johnson & Bell women attorneys who have served as first chair trial attorneys. The article, “Firm celebrates wins by women in first chair job,” notes that just 13 percent of cases had women attorneys appearing as lead counsel, according to a research report by the American Bar Association. At Johnson & Bell, eight women who are shareholders, including Monica Burkoth, Katie E. Gorrie, Susan M. Hannigan, Lynn M. Reid, Sammi L. Renken, Sharon L. Stanzione, Susan K. Swing, and Margaret (Peggy) Unger, have first chair trial experience. With only 1 or 2 cases per 100 lawsuits actually reaching trial, we believe this is not only a remarkable accomplishment for these attorneys, but also underscores the incredible trust and respect our clients and our firm place in their respective skill and ability.
