Michael J. Linneman focuses his practice on premises liability, trucking, transportation law, and general negligence. For nearly 20 years, he has represented some of the nation’s most iconic retailers, hotel brands, and trucking companies in matters ranging from slip-and-fall soft tissue claims to catastrophic spinal cord injuries and wrongful death claims. He has tried several jury and bench trials to verdict and represented clients in dozens of arbitrations. And after years of advocating for clients in arbitrations, he has recently begun serving as a court-appointed arbitrator in the Cook County Law Division Mandatory Arbitration Program.
In addition to tort liability, Mr. Linneman has assisted clients in achieving favorable resolutions of various types of commercial disputes and he has represented creditors and other interested parties before several U.S. Bankruptcy Courts throughout the country. Like so many of his colleagues at Johnson & Bell, over the years Mr. Linneman has earned a reputation in the Chicago legal community not just as a hard-nosed civil litigator, but also as an attorney who can and will work with anyone to achieve a fair resolution.
Within Johnson & Bell, Mr. Linneman is actively engaged in the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, heads the firm’s pro bono program, and has recently taken on co-chair responsibilities for the firm’s younger attorney mentoring program.
In his community, after having contributed his services over several years to a local nonprofit organization working to improve the educational resources and opportunities of grade school children in his wife’s hometown of Hyderabad, India, Mr. Linneman has recently taken on a new challenge: coaching his son’s park district basketball team.
