Two Johnson & Bell Shareholders Participate in ALFA International Educational Events

September 13, 2024

Shareholders Carlos Vera and Caroline Vickrey participated recently in separate ALFA International educational events.

On September 10th, 2024, Caroline Vickrey spoke in an ALFA International webinar entitled “DEI, Private Employers, Affirmative Action: Where Things Stand One Year After SCOTUS Ruling Striking Down Race-Based Admissions Policies in Higher Education.”. Caroline and Amy Yarbro, a partner at Morrison Mahoney LLP, broke down the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in SFFA v. Harvard. This case was decided last year and is frequently cited in an employer-employee context regarding discrimination claims against private employers involving DEI programs.

On September 13th, 2024, Carlos Vera served as the moderator for a panel discussion entitled “Adapting in the Arena: Strategies for Confronting Jury Trial Twists.” at the ALFA International Business Litigation Practice Seminar in Park City, Utah. The discussion focused on the nuances of jury selection, leveraging diversity on your legal team, and dealing with the unexpected during a jury trial.

Both speaking engagements were successful, sparking engaging and informative discussions. Johnson & Bell thanks both Carlos and Caroline for showcasing their legal experience in their respective practice areas, and ALFA International for their hospitality and consideration.
