Johnson & Bell Shareholder, Timothy R. Couture, recently served as a featured panelist at a Chicago Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section seminar. He was joined by fellow panelist, the Hon. Margaret A. Brennan (Ret.), ADR Systems. Together, Judge Brennan and Mr. Couture discussed the use of mediation as a method of alternative dispute resolution in commercial litigation. The seminar addressed all aspects of mediation including best practices, negotiation strategies, and common pitfalls to be avoided. A second panel, featuring Bryan White, O’Hagan Meyer, and William McAllister, Williams Barber Morel, discussed arbitration as a method of alternative dispute resolution. The two-hour seminar was moderated by Christopher Mackey, O’Hagan Meyer, and Pam Sran, Gair Eberhard Nelson Dedinas, who serve as chairs of the Young Lawyers Section of the Business Law Litigation Committee at the Chicago Bar Association. The event took place June 20.
