Joel Brenord concentrates his practice in health care law, commercial litigation, and general negligence claims. He represents hospitals, nursing homes, physicians, and nurses in a wide variety of matters in state and federal court. In addition, he handles premises liability and other general negligence litigation for a number of clients. Mr. Brenord has participated in jury trials and mediations. He has extensive experience in all stages of litigation, including: case management conferences, motion hearings, arbitrations, settlements, depositions, and drafting motions.
Prior to joining Johnson & Bell, Mr. Brenord worked at a plaintiff's personal injury firm. Prior to that, he worked at an insurance defense firm. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sheila Finnegan and Honorable Jeffery Cole in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Mr. Brenord earned his undergraduate degree from Hampshire College, and his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. While in law school, he was staff editor of the Loyola International Law Review and earned the CALI Award for earning the highest grade in legal writing class. He also clerked for the Honorable Eduardo C. Robreno, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and for the Honorable Daniel Gillespie in the Circuit Court of Cook County.
He is a an associate member of CARPLS Legal Aid.
