Vera is a featured speaker at the August 11 seminar, “Ruminations on Steering Clear of ‘A Fine Mess’ in Professional Liability Coverage Disputes.” Mr. Vera will be joined by fellow presenter, David Robles, Vice President, North American Claims Group, Allied World Insurance Company, and George Fagan of Leake & Andersson, LLP, who will moderate the presentation. The presentation will address how to initiate careful investigations and make objective evaluations when making coverage decisions in complex circumstances. Those decisions are made all the more difficult because of the myriad competing factors and interests that insurers routinely face when making coverage determinations -- allegations of Petitions, limited available facts, insureds’ needs and demands for a defense, along with potentially overlapping coverages, multiple insureds with potentially divergent interests, and insurance towers for different policy types. This panel will offer its ruminations on steering clear of “fine messes” in complex circumstances.
