Shear Steers Client Clear of Hit and Run Claim

May 2, 2017

Johnson & Bell Shareholder, Steven M. Shear, obtained a defense verdict in Federal Court before Judge Gettleman.  The case involved a bicyclist who claimed she was side swiped when a truck driver and the trailer he was towing swerved into her lane of travel.  Shear’s client was not aware of the contact between his trailer and the bicycle, and he continued to travel three miles to his destination where he was ultimately questioned by police.  Plaintiff tried to frame the case as a hit and run.  The jury took approximately two hours to deliberate, delivering a defense verdict in favor of Shear’s client.  Paralegal Sinead O’Donoghue assisted Shear at trial.
