In case you missed it, Johnson & Bell Shareholder, Sammi L. Renken, has been recognized as one of the inaugural honorees of Chicago Daily Law Bulletin’s and Chicago Lawyer Magazine’s influential Women in Law Awards. Ms. Renken is one of 50 women in metropolitan Chicago recognized by the publications and was recognized because of her work to advance women in the profession and as an example of leadership of women in law initiatives. The honorees originally were announced on Friday, May 8, but due to the pandemic, the publication of all 50 honorees was delayed until December 3.
Since 1999, when she served as President of the Women’s Law Caucus while earning her JD at the University of Texas School of Law, Sammi Renken has been at the forefront of women in law issues. She has risen in our firm to serve as Vice President and Equity Shareholder at Johnson & Bell, Ltd. She is also on the Board of Directors and Management Committee. She leads our firm’s Women’s Initiative and has been on the board of the Chicago Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law.
In 2021, Sammi will become the President of the Illinois Healthcare Risk Management Society and previously served as President of the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society. In 2010, she was honored by Law Bulletin Publishing Company as one of its “Forty Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch.” Her successful trial record has resulted in being invited to join the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) in 2016 and The Society of Trial Lawyers in 2018. In 2017, she also was welcomed into the fellowship of the Trial Lawyer Honorary Society of the Litigation Counsel of America. For several years, Sammi served on the Board of Trustees for Marillac St. Vincent Family Services, a non-profit organization that strengthens and empowers children and families.
