As many of you know, Bill Johnson, our long-time leader of Johnson & Bell, passed away on January 28. Clients, friends of the firm, plaintiff attorneys, and current and former J&B attorneys have shared their thoughts and reflections with us. On behalf of Johnson & Bell, a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has taken a moment to share a memory about him. As Johnson & Bell Chairman, Joseph R. Marconi said, Bill, one of the founders of the firm, was really the “Father of our firm.” Robert M. Burke, president of Johnson & Bell, added, “Bill’s stature in the legal community, his guidance and the example he set for all of us are major reasons why the firm is as successful as it is and has the reputation that it does.” The mold was definitely broken with Bill. May he rest in peace.
In honor of Bill Johnson, Johnson & Bell has set up a Scholarship fund in his name at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. The funds we raise will be used to offset the cost of a student to attend night school at Chicago-Kent. As you may know, Bill earned his J.D. by attending law school at night at Chicago-Kent. Anyone who knew him and would like to support the Scholarship fund can do so via an online donation by clicking here. As you complete the form, check the box under "Tribute Gift" that indicates your gift is in “memory of someone.” A dropdown box will appear and then enter “The William V. (“Bill”) Johnson Scholarship Fund.” Complete the rest of the form and submit. Chicago-Kent is administering the fund and will keep us apprised of its progress. If you would like to get in touch with Chicago-Kent directly, please reach out to Chrissy Brown, Assistant Dean of Advancement, at cbrown67@kentlaw.iit.edu or by phone at (312) 906-5236.
