Victor J. Pioli

Victor J. Pioli is a shareholder in Johnson & Bell’s Business Litigation and Professional Liability practice groups. He has been recognized as an Illinois "Super Lawyer" in the past few years.  In 2019, he received a Trial Excellence Award for Outstanding Defense Verdict in a Legal Malpractice Case from the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.  His peers have also recognized him with an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Pioli handles a variety of commercial matters, including trial and appellate work on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts. His client list ranges from large corporations and government entities to individuals. He has litigated simple contract disputes, complex securities disputes and antitrust matters, to name just a few representative cases.

Mr. Pioli also concentrates his practice defending professionals in malpractice matters and has successfully tried several cases to verdict.  He counsels law firms and other clients on cyber/technology liability issues and has successfully addressed allegations of data breaches against professional services firms.

As editor of the American Law Firm Association's (ALFA) Professional Liability Newsletter, Mr. Pioli has written about a variety of issues including email fraud and an analysis of relations with a jury consultant. He is a member of several law societies, and is a member of ALFA's Business Litigation and Professional Liability Steering Committees.
