On November 12, 2018, Shareholder Kevin G. Owens spoke at the annual meeting of the Packaging Machine Manufacturers Institute (“PMMI”) in Tampa, FL. His topic, Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis: Making Your Company Defendable,” explained how incorporating a formalized program of Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis in the design process for any manufactured product will not only result in a safer product, but will also yield valuable defense ammunition in the event of a later product liability lawsuit. The presentation included mock direct and cross examinations of engineering experts. PMMI is a trade association made up of more than 800 member companies that manufacture packaging, processing and packaging-related converting machinery, commercially available packaging machinery components, containers and materials in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
