Nicholas R. Lykins handles premises liability concerns and real estate-related issues, including lease and contract enforcement disputes, for some of the largest shopping mall and retail center property owners in the United States. He also represents clients ranging from a Fortune Global 500 company to local product manufacturers and premises owners in asbestos and toxic tort litigation. He represents these clients throughout Illinois and in Northwest Indiana.
Mr. Lykins also is the chair of the Medical Cannabis group, advising and representing clients in the medical cannabis industry, including dispensaries, cultivation centers, transportation, care givers and ancillary businesses on compliance, licensing, and commercial matters in Illinois. He also advises clients on rights and concerns in dealings and negotiations with the development of wind-energy projects, as well as advising city, county and state municipalities on issues relating to zoning for wind energy developments.
Born and raised in central and southern Illinois, Mr. Lykins understands the local business practices and the importance of sustaining natural resources. He’s worked with clients litigating cases, negotiating contracts, and with legal drafting. Mr. Lykins also works in complex/catastrophic litigation and commercial litigation, including the Lincoln Park porch collapse litigation, legal malpractice litigation involving mergers and acquisitions and offshore investments, and large commercial fraud litigation.
A graduate of DePaul University College of Law, Mr. Lykins is a member of the American Bar Association and Illinois Defense Trial Counsel, where he was co-chair of the Trial Academy. He is also a member of the Illinois Bar Association, the Illinois Wind Working Group, and the American Wind Energy Association.
