Karla Neninger is an associate in the firm’s retail practice group and concentrates her client work on civil litigation, general negligence, premises liability, products liability, construction negligence, medical malpractice, and commercial litigation. Ms. Neninger represents clients through all phases of litigation and is well versed in mediation and arbitration.
Prior to joining Johnson & Bell, Ms. Neninger served as the head of a plaintiff injury firm’s Chicago office with a focus on personal injury, general negligence, products liability, construction negligence, medical malpractice, and commercial disputes. Her experience in plaintiff trial work, including several jury trials, furthers her clients’ ability to achieve favorable results both in and out of the courtroom. Ms. Neninger has been recognized as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for 2024, 2025, and 2026, a distinction bestowed on only 2.5% of attorneys, as conferred by a jury of peers. She has also been recognized by National Trial Lawyers as a Top 40 Under 40 honoree for 2025.
Ms. Neninger earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a minor in French, from The Ohio State University and her juris doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law. During law school, she interned with the Cook County Public Defender’s Office and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, using her Supreme Court Rule 711 license to argue contested motions and take cases to bench trial, earning a Certificate in Litigation in the process. Ms. Neninger speaks Spanish and French. When not advocating for her clients, Karla enjoys painting, cooking, and spending time with friends indulging in all the live shows, food, and art Chicago has to offer.
