Johnson & Bell Scores Major Product Liability Win for Table Saw Manufacturers

December 9, 2014

Table saw manufacturers, Ryobi Technologies, Inc., One World Technologies, Inc. and Techtronic Industries North America, Inc. secured a not guilty verdict in a major product liability case in Duluth, MN.  In this case, the plaintiff alleged that the table saw manufactured by defendants was defective and unreasonably dangerous for not incorporating a user friendly, modular blade guard and/or flesh detection technology. The plaintiff, who severed his ulnar nerve on a spinning saw blade, asked for $6.4 million in damages.

The not guilty verdict is a major, positive outcome as more than 200 lawsuits involving this technology have been filed around the country against these and other table saw manufacturers.

Johnson & Bell Shareholder, John W. Bell, represented the defendants.  Judge Patrick Shiltz, District of Minnesota, presided. Thull v. Techtronic Industries Co., Ltd, et al; 0:11-cv-02368.
