Abha U. Nadkarni focuses her practice on general litigation, including cases involving premises liability, product liability, construction litigation, and defending public utilities.
Ms. Nadkarni received her Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence and Bachelor of Laws from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS) in Kolkata, India. While at NUJS, she served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review Board and represented the University and India as a finalist in international moot court competitions. She graduated with full honors and received the University Gold Medal in Criminal Law, Evidence Law, and Best Student Performance in a Moot Court Competition.
Ms. Nadkarni relocated to the United States in 2018 and received her J.D. from Indiana University McKinney School of Law. While she was a student at IU McKinney, she received the Full Merit based scholarship and the Lloyd Little Memorial Scholarship. She also served as the President of the Asian Law Students Association and clerked with the Indiana Supreme Court Judicial Disciplinary Commission. Upon graduating, she spent two years as a public defender in Indianapolis with the Marion County Public Defender Agency, leaving at an Attorney III position where she was representing indigent clients charged with major felonies, in jury trials and bench trials. Prior to joining Johnson & Bell, Ms. Nadkarni worked as a public defender in the Civil Division with Cook County. With a strong background in defense and trial skills, Ms. Nadkarni aims to represent her clients competently and competitively.
She is licensed to practice law in Illinois, Indiana, and California; and is a member of the Chicago Bar Association. Ms. Nadkarni is also fluent in Hindi/Urdu, Marathi, and Portuguese. Beyond her legal pursuits, she is an aerial artist and fosters dogs and cats with animal shelters.
