Johnson & Bell is pleased to announce that Maxim N. Belovol and Amber J. Damerow have joined the firm as associate attorneys.
Mr. Belovol concentrates his practice in commercial litigation and civil defense litigation involving construction, transportation and insurance disputes. With a robust background as a Judicial Law Clerk in the Cook County Commercial Calendar Section, Maxim has demonstrated exceptional legal acumen and a strong knowledge of the nuances of Illinois law. Maxim’s work as a judicial clerk covered a wide range of commercial claims, including Breach of Contract, Illinois Human Rights Act, Spoliation, Common Law Fraud, and the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act. Recently, the Illinois Appellate Court affirmed an opinion Maxim wrote in Wang v. Guo, upholding the dismissal of a $13,000,000 Chinese wire-fraud case for improper jurisdiction. Ms. Damerow focuses her practice in the areas of toxic tort, environmental law, and product liability. She graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law with a Certificate in Environmental and Energy Law. As a student at Chicago-Kent, Ms. Damerow gained practice experience at the U.S. EPA Region 5 Office of Regional Counsel, the Illinois Pollution Control Board, and Chicago Kent’s Environmental Law Clinic. She previously worked in public education and nonprofit management, with a particular focus on ensuring access to education for children experiencing homelessness.
