Kyle J. Farris

Kyle J. Farris handles a variety of civil litigation matters, including transportation, premises liability and insurance coverage disputes.  Mr. Farris is a native Hoosier, having grown up on a farm in Vincennes, Indiana.  He has written motions that have successfully excluded and limited trial testimony of prolific plaintiffs’ experts.  One of those opinions excluding a prolific plaintiff expert was in federal court (Northern District of Indiana) and was recently published: Sturgis v. R&L Carriers, Inc., 554 F.Supp.3d 976 (N.D. Ind. 2021).  He also has been involved in multiple trials and secured a defense verdict in his first trial as second chair.

He earned his bachelor of science from Purdue University in 2016 and graduated magna cum laude from Valparaiso University Law School where he earned his Juris Doctor in May 2019.  While at Valparaiso, Kyle served as Editor in Chief of Law Review and was selected for the 2019 Valparaiso University Alumni Association Distinguished Student Award for his work as the last editor in chief of the law journal.  During law school, Kyle was also recognized as the Outstanding Officer of the Year and earned both the Corpus Juris Secundum and Scribes awards.  Kyle’s Note, Flying Inside America’s Drome Dome and Landing in Aerial Trespass Limbo was published in the school’s legal journal in the fall of 2018.  While attending Valparaiso, Kyle received top marks, the Honors A, in several courses, including Law Review Legal Writing, Legal Writing & Research, Legal Research, Constitutional Law, and Property.

Kyle has served as an extern drafting orders for the Honorable Rebecca Pallmeyer of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; a law clerk working medical malpractice and commercial litigation cases in Chicago for Lowis & Gellen; and a legal intern with the Valparaiso University Law School Criminal Law Clinic, representing and advocating for clients in court.
