Careers at Johnson & Bell

At Johnson & Bell we offer more than a job. We help you build a career in a vibrant and growing profession.

We are a litigation law firm that offers opportunities to new law school graduates, licensed attorneys with litigation experience, paralegals, and administrative professionals with skills ranging from accounting to operations. For more than 50 years Johnson & Bell has been known as a great place to learn the legal profession and build a career. We offer extensive in-house legal and business training opportunities provided by our most experienced litigators, as well as clients, judges, senior staff, and outside consultants.

In addition, each associate is assigned a mentor and given opportunities, early and often, to work directly with clients and participate meaningfully in motions, depositions, hearings, and trials. We also participate in many professional and industry groups that offer educational and training opportunities.

We opened our doors in 1975 and during the past 50 years we have grown to a firm of approximately 90 attorneys, backed by a similar sized staff in two offices. Our attorneys work in a variety of practice areas with a wide range of clients, concentrated mainly in Illinois and Indiana, but our litigation teams have handled matters in dozens of different states. If attorneys are the beating heart of Johnson & Bell, our clients are the life’s blood. We are privileged to represent hundreds of companies, organizations and governments including some of the largest retailers in the US, many of Chicagoland’s largest healthcare providers, national and international manufacturers, and dozens of top insurance companies and their insureds.

We value innovative thinking, problem solving and hard work. Our attorneys and staff take pride in what they do and always strive to exceed client expectations. We recognize that balance is important in life, and encourage our team members to pursue professional and personal interests outside the office, including involvement in the community. While we take our profession seriously, we like to have fun and host a wide range of firm social events throughout the year.
