On September 18, 2018, Shareholder Kevin G. Owens was a featured panelist at the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers’ annual Product Liability and Safety Conference in Washington, D.C. He was joined by other panelists from industry and the Consumer Product Safety Commission for a panel discussion of Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis as it relates to new and emerging technologies such as 3-D printing and the Internet of Things (IoT), the network of physical devices, vehicles, home appliances, and other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data. He shared insights on how a formal process of hazard analysis and risk identification can assist in the product liability defense context by making products more “defensible” in the event of litigation.
