John (“Jack”) C. Marshall concentrates his practice in civil litigation defense, with a focus on the representation of hospitals, physicians, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare professionals in professional liability cases. He has extensive experience defending medical malpractice, institutional negligence, and Illinois Nursing Home Care Act claims. He has tried numerous cases to verdict resulting in defense verdicts for his clients and resolved hundreds of additional matters through settlement, mediation, or through motion practice. In addition to representing healthcare providers in medical negligence claims, Jack has litigated cases involving professional liability, trucking, dental/periodontal malpractice, fraud, attorney malpractice, and commercial disputes.
Jack has presented to his clients on current risk management and novel issues of law. He is an active member of the Chicago Healthcare Risk Management Society (CHRMS), the Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management (ISHRM), and the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys (IAHA). During law school, he was a member of the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society, taking first place in the Evan A. Evans Constitutional Moot Court Competition, as well as winning an award for brief writing.
