The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has announced increased fines, corrections on standard clarification, as well as issues a reminder for injury and illness reports.
OSHA has issued the maximum penalty amounts, with the annual adjustment for inflation. The penalty information is intended to supplement the penalties and debt collection information found in Chapter 6 of the Field Operation Manual (FOM). For Serious, Other-than-Serious, and Posting Requirements, the penalty is $13,494 per violation; Failure to Abate is $13,494 per day beyond the abatement date; and Willful or Repeated is $134,937 per violation.
OSHA has also issued corrections to the walking-working surfaces, personal protective equipment, and special industries standards. This includes ladders, stairways, scaffolds and rope descent systems, personal fall protection systems and more. To view the complete corrections, please click here.
