Johnson & Bell Shareholder Meghan M. Sciortino will present at DRI’s Product Liability Conference taking place from February 7-9, 2018, in San Diego. Her product safety presentation will focus on the following topic, “Gray Areas Involving Industry Standards: Proposed Standards, the Period Between Publication and Effective Date, and Industry Responsibility to Be Proactive.” Her co-presenters include Christopher Yearout, of Lightfoot Franklin & White LLC in Birmingham, Alabama, and Andrew M. Hornick, of Techtronic Industries North America in Anderson, South Carolina.
DRI’s conference offers progressive strategies for defending product manufacturers. The conference will explore various issues that clients and outside counsel face in the negotiation, regulatory and litigation environment. The conference will include presentations by six in-house counsel, a constitutional law professor, the acting chair of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and several experienced counsel and industry experts. The conference will offer concrete practice pointers for attorneys to use in their law practices to minimize liability before and during litigation.
Meghan M. Sciortino focuses her practice on product liability, premises liability and construction law. Ms. Sciortino defends product manufacturers and distributors of a variety of products including everything from elevator controllers, power tools and industrial machinery to kitchen appliances and cosmetics tools. Ms. Sciortino has obtained numerous summary judgments and secured many dismissals on behalf of her clients prior to trial.
