Johnson & Bell Shareholder, William K. McVisk, will serve as a panelist at the Construction Risk Shifting in Illinois presentation taking place on February 1 at the offices of Neal Gerber Eisenberg. The session runs from 8 am to 9:30 am and will examine how contractors and project owners manage construction-related risks in Illinois using insurance products and contractual provisions. The ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section, Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, and Self-Insurers & Risk Managers Committees are sponsoring the event.
Topics that will be discussed at the presentation include indemnity, limitations of liability and other contractual provisions, as well as the state of Illinois law regarding third-party “action over” claims. The topic of liability insurance will also be explored, including tips on how to choose the correct additional insured endorsement for a construction contract and other important insurance specifications.
Mr. McVisk is an insurance attorney who regularly represents insurers and insureds in construction-related coverage disputes. In addition to Mr. McVisk, presenters will include the Vice President of Risk Management for one of the largest general contractors in the United States, and a construction attorney who focuses her practice on representing project owners in negotiating construction contracts.
William K. McVisk concentrates his practice on complex insurance coverage litigation, and hospital law and medical liability. Mr. McVisk has handled all areas of coverage and bad faith litigation, especially third-party bad faith and coverage litigation involving commercial general liability, hospital professional liability and physicians’ professional liability coverages.
