On May 1, 2014, Johnson & Bell Shareholder, Kevin G. Owens, assembled a team of fellow defense lawyers from around the country to present a mock trial to the annual meeting of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) in Schaumburg, IL. He was joined by lawyers from California, New York and Alabama in presenting a condensed version of a three-week product liability case that he successfully tried to verdict in Cook County, IL. The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is a North American-based international trade group providing educational and business development resources to advance the off-road equipment manufacturing industry in the global marketplace. AEM numbers more than 850 companies that produce and market equipment, products and services used worldwide in the agriculture, construction, forestry, mining and utility sectors. This year’s annual meeting set a record for attendance at the function, spurred by interest in seeing an actual trial conducted, in which the audience members served as jury.
