Monica Gutowski focuses her practice on municipal liability, insurance defense and governmental tort liability. Ms. Gutowski has successfully defended cases in both state and federal court, in which she has obtained dismissals and summary judgment rulings in favor of her clients which include municipalities, police officers and security personnel. Ms. Gutowski has considerable litigation experience, having tried 34 jury trials to verdict and arbitrated over 125 cases in Cook County and other local collar counties.
During the Spring and Fall, Ms. Gutowski lends her jury trial experience to law students at The John Marshall Law School Trial Advocacy Program, a program recognized as one of the top 20 Trial Advocacy Programs in the nation, by coaching student teams in mock trial competitions on a local, regional and national level.
While in law school, she was a Board Member of the Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Honors Board, and also participated in several national mock trial competitions, taking first place in the Texas Young Lawyers Advocacy National Trial Competition.
