Monica Burkoth focuses her practice on municipal liability, class actions, civil rights law and prison litigation. Her clients include municipalities, law enforcement officers and security personnel.  Ms. Burkoth has successfully defended cases in both state and federal court, and has an excellent record in obtaining favorable jury verdicts, dismissals and summary judgment rulings.  Ms. Burkoth has tried 37 jury trials to verdict.  She was recently part of the trial team that secured a defense verdict in a wrongful death case that stemmed from an officer-involved shooting. Ms. Burkoth has been included in the inaugural edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch.

While in law school, she was a Board Member of the Trial Advocacy and Dispute Resolution Honors Board, and also participated in several national mock trial competitions, taking first place in the Texas Young Lawyers Advocacy National Trial Competition.
