Katie E. Gorrie’s practice centers on construction and general negligence. Ms. Gorrie defends owners, construction managers, general contractors and subcontractors in construction litigation involving personal injury, property damage and construction defects. Her other clients include health clubs and fitness facilities for general litigation needs such as personal injury and property damage.
Ms. Gorrie has handled construction-related litigation in state and federal courts, as well as before the Illinois Court of Claims. In addition, she has served as both first and second chair for jury trials that went to verdict in the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Risk-management education is central to Ms. Gorrie's practice, as she teaches construction professionals on ways to avoid litigation, and writes extensively on the subject. A member of the Illinois State Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association, she has served as one of the hosts of “Legal Ease - Voice of the Young Lawyer,” a webcast series sponsored by West LegalWorks that focused on issues affecting young lawyers. She’s also served as a mentor/panelist for Chicago minority job fairs, focusing on the placement of minorities in the Chicago legal market.
