John C. Marshall is a trial attorney who concentrates his practice in the defense of hospitals, physicians, nurses, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare providers in professional negligence matters. He has participated in several jury trials resulting in defense verdicts for his clients. In one representative case, his client received the only “not guilty” verdict among three defendants in a case where the plaintiff asked the jury for over $6 million in damages. Mr. Marshall has written and prevailed on motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment. He has taken and defended hundreds of depositions in cases across a spectrum of medical specialties.
Mr. Marshall has presented to hospitals on current risk management issues and is an active member of the Chicagoland Healthcare Risk Management Society and the Illinois Society of Healthcare Risk Management.
Mr. Marshall earned his J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law. During law school, he participated in the Chicago-Kent Moot Court Honor Society, taking first place in the Evan A. Evans Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, as well as winning an award for brief writing. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. Mr. Marshall is also on the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center Associate Council, as well as the Associate Board of NorthShore University HealthSystem.
