Judge Donald J. O’Brien, Jr. was principal in the firm of O’Brien, Redding and Hyde for 27 years, during which time he tried 107 cases to verdict in both the state and federal courts and at the appellate level in both the state and federal courts. In 1990, he was appointed to Cook County Circuit Court Judge, and assigned to the Law Division, hearing major personal injury cases and contract disputes. Judge O’Brien was elected to Cook County Circuit Court for a full six-year term in 1992 and later served in the Chancery Division. In 2004 he returned to the law division, and retired in 2010.
Judge O’Brien has won numerous honors and is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association and American Bar Association, Fellowships in the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, American College of Trial Lawyers and International Society of Barristers.
