David J. Rock focuses his practice on insurance coverage and defense. He handles coverage disputes, including preparing coverage opinions and advocating for clients in declaratory judgment actions. Dave has practiced insurance coverage since becoming a licensed attorney in 2011. He also handles general negligence litigation and labor and employment matters. He is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association.

Prior to joining Johnson & Bell, he worked as an associate attorney at a Chicago firm, representing liability and excess carriers in general liability, professional liability, employers liability, and first-party coverage matters. His practice at that firm also included general defense work, including premises liability and products liability litigation. He also represented insurance brokers and attorneys in professional negligence and malpractice claims. He has represented employers in employment discrimination proceedings before the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

Prior to that, he worked as an associate at a Chicago-area firm handling various professional liability coverage matters, including Directors & Officers liability, employment practices liability, and Errors & Omissions liability. While in law school, Dave worked as a legal extern for Judge Jeffrey Ford in the Champaign County Circuit Court, assisting Judge Ford in various civil matters and Drug Court, and clerked at a Chicago firm that represented local government entities in labor and employment matters.
