Daniel R. Ahasay focuses his practice on business litigation, commercial transactions, and real estate. He also advises on the general business and transactional needs of closely held and privately held companies. Mr. Ahasay represents clients in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, employment issues, and business finance needs, as well as warranty and service contract issues. In addition, he works on cases involving lease and contract enforcement, eminent domain, mortgage and tax foreclosures, and zoning procedures. Prior to joining Johnson & Bell, Mr. Ahasay worked for a large civil defense firm practicing complex commercial litigation. He has extensive experience in all stages of litigation including researching and drafting appellate briefs, conducting written, oral, and expert discovery, and composing and arguing dispositive motions.
Mr. Ahasay earned his J.D. with a certificate in Business Law from DePaul University College of Law, where he earned Dean’s List honors and served as Symposium Editor and Executive Board Member of the DePaul Business and Commercial Law Journal. He also earned a CALI award for Contracts and was a research assistant to Professor Michael Jacobs. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Hon. John J. Tharp, Jr. in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He holds bachelor’s degrees in finance and economics, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he earned Dean’s List honors, and is a certified mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago.
