On April 29, 2020, Johnson & Bell Shareholder, Kevin G. Owens, will partner with Anne Mathias of Engineering Systems, Inc. (“ESi”) to present a webinar to the Chicago chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (“CPCU”) meeting.  Their presentation, titled Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis – How and Why: Improving Your Company’s Defensibility, will present both the defense attorney’s and expert engineer’s analysis and insights on how adopting a formal process of Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis helps not only make products safer for their users, but also makes the product’s designer and manufacturer more defensible in the event of product liability litigation against them resulting from user injury. CPCU is a professional designation in property-casualty insurance and risk management, administered by The Institutes, also known as the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.  Achieving the designation requires completion of eight courses covering topics such as risk management, insurance operations, business law, finance and accounting, property insurance, and liability insurance.  The CPCU designation is widely considered the most distinguished designation offered in the insurance industry.  ESi is an engineering and scientific investigation and analysis firm committed to providing clear answers to the most challenging technical problems. Its technical expertise, practical experience, technological resources, and extensive diagnostic, analytical, and physical testing capabilities help its clients with comprehensive and efficient solutions across dozens of industries.  Its scientists regularly assist defense counsel in the defense of product liability and other litigation.
