Johnson & Bell Shareholder, Kevin G. Owens, recently authored the Illinois section of a 50-state product liability compendium published by the Defense Research Institute (DRI),  Product Liability Compendium: Warnings, Instructions and Recalls.   This compendium presents summaries of the law in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, emphasizing two of the most important theories in product liability and product safety: the pre-sale duty to warn and instruct, and the evolving state of a manufacturer’s post-sale duty to warn which, in some states, has been the basis of significant punitive damage awards. Click here to download the Illinois section of the compendium. You can also access the complete compendium.
