Johnson & Bell Shareholder and Trial Lawyer, Katie E. Gorrie, will moderate the discussion, “A Woman’s Place: Getting into the First Chair,” at ALFA International’s upcoming 2016 Women’s Initiative Program on October 27, 2016. Ms. Gorrie’s panel is part of a series of presentations and discussions of the reasons for the disproportionately low percentage of women litigators in lead trial counsel roles. Joining Ms. Gorrie for the discussion will be Dina Cox, managing partner at Lewis Wagner, a law firm based in Indianapolis, and the Honorable Michael R. Panter, a senior mediator and arbitrator with ADR Systems in Chicago. The 2016 Women’s Initiative Program takes place at the Lowes Chicago Hotel and is part of ALFA’s 2016 Annual Business Meeting.
Ms. Gorrie practices in the Construction group, and focuses on construction litigation. She defends owners, construction managers, general contractors and subcontractors in construction litigation involving personal injury, property damage and construction defects. She has defended construction professionals in a variety of actions including numerous wrongful death and catastrophic injury cases. She is actively involved in the Women’s Initiative Group for ALFA, and is a member of several construction-related organizations in Illinois, including the National Association of Women in Construction.
