Johnson & Bell is pleased to announce that Associate Attorneys Julie J. Busch, Ramses Jalalpour, Angela M. Kotsalieff, and Alan M. Kus have been promoted to Shareholder at the firm.

Marconi, president of Johnson & Bell, Ltd. “They are talented, young trial attorneys dedicated to securing our clients’ business and legal objectives. They are well-regarded by their colleagues and their clients.  We anticipate we will be sharing more good news about this group as their careers progress.”

Ms. Busch, 33, concentrates her practice in general negligence, as well as transportation and retail litigation. She has assisted with all aspects of litigation, mediation, settlement, and jury trials for large, complex disputes in transportation litigation, complex brain injury, and retail litigation.  Her clients include transportation companies, refuse and recycling companies, food companies and retailers.

She is co-chair of the Associates Committee for the Coalition of Women’s Initiatives in Law.  Ms. Busch is also a member of the American Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, and Trucking Industry Defense Association. In her spare time, Ms. Busch serves on the Children’s Research Fund Junior Board, which supports the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She resides in Chicago and enjoys tennis and boating.

Mr. Jalalpour, 32, concentrates his practice in the areas of professional liability and business litigation. He also focuses on appellate law. Mr. Jalalpour's experience includes cases involving breach of contract, legal malpractice representing divorce and personal injury attorneys, securities arbitration, and product liability and personal injury matters.

Mr. Jalalpour earned his J.D. from University of Wisconsin Law School, graduating cum laude. He received the Dean's Academic Achievement Award and Samson Fellowship Scholarship. During law school, he gained experience working as a law clerk at a firm specializing in securities litigation and insurance defense. Prior to law school, he graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a B.A. in Political Science.  Mr. Jalalpour resides in Skokie and enjoys playing basketball, working out and reading books about history.

Ms. Kotsalieff concentrates her practice in product liability and premises liability litigation, including matters involving toxic torts.  She has also worked with clients on matters involving employee benefits litigation.  She has defended a variety of clients, including retailers, manufacturers and contractors, throughout all aspects of litigation.     

Ms. Kotsalieff earned her B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law. Her memberships include the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. She currently resides in Chicago with her fiancé and enjoys traveling and reading.

Alan M. Kus, 32, focuses his practice on health care law, with a concentration in medical malpractice defense. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Valparaiso University and a J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law. As a law student, Mr. Kus held an externship at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. He also worked at Valparaiso University Law School Low Income Tax Clinic. He has been recognized by Indiana Super Lawyers as a Rising Star between 2018 and 2020. A native of Griffith, Indiana, Mr. Kus, his wife, Jessica, and their daughter currently reside in Winfield, IN. He enjoys fishing and rooting on the Green Bay Packers and Chicago White Sox.
