Jack J. Casciato focuses his practice on defending trucking companies in trucking accidents, hospitals and doctors in medical malpractice actions, nursing homes in litigation brought pursuant to the Nursing Home Care Act, retailers in premises liability actions and product manufacturers. His practice is split between defending clients in both state and federal court where he acts as the handling attorney in multi-party litigation. Jack works closely with insurers, third-party administrators and general counsels to cost-effectively manage litigation and maintain consistent collaboration. His clients include one of the largest publicly traded trucking companies in North America, as well as several Chicagoland trucking companies and nursing homes.
Jack is an avid hockey fan and played college hockey for St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and DePaul University. He believes that being a successful trial attorney requires a “high compete level” that he gained from his hockey days. Jack has even represented several current and former National Hockey League players in a wide range of contractual and legal matters. He enjoys golfing, working out, and spending time with friends and family. His interest in becoming a trial lawyer stems from the great admiration his father Joseph N. Casciato, a retired Law Division judge who enjoyed a 22-year judicial career, always had for the legal profession. Jack also recalls going to work with his father as a child where he remembers he was drawn to how active a courtroom can be. Jack’s fondness of history and the many great historical figures that were trial lawyers, from Abraham Lincoln to Thurgood Marshall, also played a part in his professional choice. He believes there is no other profession where one can constantly be gaining new knowledge in a wide range of subjects and interests.
