Johnson & Bell, Ltd. announced today that Patricia A. Ryan has joined the firm as a Shareholder.  Ms. Ryan comes to the firm from American Overseas Group Limited (AOREF), a Bermuda insurance holding company, where she served as executive vice president and general counsel for the holding company and operating entities since 2013.  She will continue working with American Overseas Group on a consulting basis.

“Patty adds substantial depth in two key areas for our firm,” stated William V. Johnson, president of Johnson & Bell, Ltd. “She will not only enhance our insurance regulatory, reinsurance and enterprise risk management capabilities, but also expand our corporate and transactional expertise.”

Ms. Ryan brings 23 years of legal experience in corporate and private practice to her role at Johnson & Bell.  Prior to American Overseas Group, Ms. Ryan was vice president and assistant general counsel at QBE.  She also was a business attorney for Specialty and Commercial lines at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Allianz.  Before transitioning to corporate positions, she was a partner at Cassiday Schade.  Ms. Ryan has a BA in Economics and History from University of Illinois and earned her JD from Loyola University School of Law.

“Our recent additions have attracted more client work to Johnson & Bell and have laid the groundwork for a strong 2017,” Johnson stated. “We anticipate Patty’s arrival will enable us to continue to build on this momentum.”

In 2016, Johnson & Bell added two corporate and real estate attorneys, John D. Malarkey and Gregory M. White.  It also added D. Patterson Gloor, Stephen P. Ellenbecker and Steven M. Shear in late fall, a group with substantial experience in mass tort and insurance defense work, Johnson said.
